In September 1947, the Dhaka Board was abolished by government decree. East Bengal Secondary Education Board became its new moniker in 1955, and it operated until 1961. This new board's authority was transferred to the University of Dhaka, and its purview was restricted to secondary education in Pakistan's then-East region.
